The small community of Melungeons and Free Blacks felt the sting of the KKK's wrath, but when they murdered a Melungeon woman and her grandson - the infamous Appalachian lawman, Devil John, came out of retirement to put a stop to the horror. When Devil John and his deputies tried to arrest the Klansmen, violence erupted - THE FEUD HAD BEGUN! Everyone called him Devil John.
