Synopsis "Wings In Darkness (in English)"
A Novel of the Mothman When two teenage lovers parked in a remote area are attacked by Point Pleasant's legendary winged monster, "the mothman," it sets tongues wagging in the little West Virginia river town, and leaves its elected officials scrambling to make the most of the tourist dollars the first sighting in almost fifty years is bound to bring in. The Mayor and the County Commissioner are ready, willing, and eager to meet the press...or so they think. At only 4' 10", feisty Italian-Irish New York reporter Fiona Pelligatti is 80 pounds of attitude, and is not at all happy with either her job or her life in general. Just coming off a failed relationship, she thinks she's finally hit rock-bottom when her obnoxious boss sends her to the middle of nowhere to chase what she's certain is nothing more than hallucinating hicks or deliberate fraud. Deputy Luke Carter is just marking time; as far as he's concerned, his life was buried two years ago with the bodies of his wife and their unborn child. The only thing he has left is protecting and serving the people in his county, and the increasing amounts of liquor it takes to dull the pain that won't go away. The last thing he needs is some smart-ass big city reporter coming in to make the people of Point Pleasant look like fools. When the county assigns Luke to be Fiona's driver, neither of them is exactly thrilled with the prospect, but they have little choice, and both end up making discoveries they never expected. When what began as a single sighting leads to the discovery cattle mutilations, Satanic cults, mysterious men in black, classified government facilities, and secrets people are willing to kill to protect, they are shocked to uncover a conspiracy dating back to the days of H.P. Lovecraft that leaves the fate, not only of Point Pleasant, but of the entire world and the very fabric of time, space, and the universe itself, hanging in the balance. Because the 'mothman' is only the tip of the dark cosmic iceberg; there are other, far more deadly monsters out there as well, and a few of them are even human...more or less.
