Synopsis "Warm Waters: A Story about Greed, Intrigue and Deception (in English)"
Set in the 1930s this is an adventure story about three individuals -- a failed businessman, a psychopath and a former soldier of fortune -- who are thrown together due to the failed schemes of the businessman. They set off on a scientific adventure to the Antarctic but the elaborate plan goes wrong and the three anti-heroes must fend for themselves after being shipwrecked and ending up on an unknown island. They despise each other and try to kill each other, but realize they must cooperate in order to survive the perils that they encounter on the lifeboat and after they make it to the island. The challenges they face include thirst, hunger, arguments, and above all an encounter with a jaguar that forms a central aspect of the novel. Characterization is developed by describing events that occurred to each of them in a series of flashbacks and how those events affected their personalities. Do they survive and get off the island? Readers must make up their own minds as to what actually happened.
