Freya neigt zu Paranoia, was dazu führt, dass sie sich in etwas hineinsteigert, bis die Probleme ihr überdimensional erscheinen. In der Vergangenheit löste sie diese Probleme auf eine äu erst unkonventionelle Art, wobei sie sprichwörtlich über Leichen ging. Als Henk, mit dem sie eine Affäre hatte, spurlos verschwindet und ein ungeheuerlicher Verdacht plötzlich im Raum steht, bleibt ihr nur noch die Flucht. Sie setzt sich in der Karibik ab und hofft, dass dort niemand nach ihr suchen wird, vor allem nicht Lutz Arnold vom LKA und seine spanischen Kollegen. Kaum hat sie sich auf Isla Mujeres, der kleinen Insel in der Karibik, eingelebt, lernt sie den 10 Jahre jüngeren Brian kennen, danach überschlagen sich die Ereignisse.
