While the Digest has had several changes in format over the years, the original purpose for publishing it has not changed. The purpose has been, and will continue to be, to compile each fiscal year a single authoritative archival document providing a statistical description of the Air Force in terms of resources, organizations, and major activities. Individuals requiring a historical description in statistical terms of each fiscal year of the Air Force's existence have found theDigest to be an invaluable addition to their information reference sources.This Fiscal Year 2006 Statistical Digest continues a format containing only actuals. Projections for the future included in previous Statistical Digests were eliminated with the publication of the FY05 Statistical Digest. Tabular and graphic presentations of data have been reformatted.
