In Indien wird die Tomate auf 879,63 Tausend Hektar angebaut, mit einer jährlichen Produktion und einer durchschnittlichen Produktivität von 18226,64 Tausend MT bzw. 20,72 MT ha-1. In Rajasthan hingegen liegt die Jahresproduktion von Tomaten bei 73,57 Tausend MT auf 15,51 Tausend Hektar Fläche mit einer durchschnittlichen Produktivität von 4,74 MT ha-1 (Anonymous, 2012-13).
