Synopsis "Trying ... For 55 Years: Some legal cases that effected the law and affected the lawyer (in English)"
A trial attorney for more than 55 years, Michael D. Schottland fought many legal battles including several that impacted the development of New Jersey common law. From civil and criminal courts to those at the highest level, the one thing driving Michael was his passion for justice for his clients; ensuring them a fair shake in the system sworn to do that. As counsel in the highly publicized State v. Bruce Curtis murder trial, he saw a reported opinion published that clarified the law on aggravated manslaughter which resulted in a treaty with Canada and was the subject of a CBS television moving and several books. He won and lost cases but learned powerful lessons through them all. He knows that neither money nor justice will cure pain or replace lost loved ones, but he always sought both because it was all he could do to help. He's a strong advocate for personal responsibility at all levels believing that traditional American values cannot be upheld without that. He invites readers to be the judge as to how each case was presented, substantiated, or ultimately awarded a verdict.
