Synopsis "Treasure Springs (in English)"

Kate Gerlacher is dedicating the two day, Memorial Day weekend bicycle race to her late grandfather, Stuart Andrews. She is the expected heir of his eighty acre farm where she grew up. Between teaching at Boise State College, keeping the farm productive and riding in three races, it looked to be a very busy summer. Returning home after the first day of racing Kate is devastated by the trashing of her grandfather's house. The farm's five acre, spring-fed lake had always been a special joy to her. The towering rimrocks were nature's backdrop for the lake which irrigated the farm, as well as providing scenic settings for relaxation. Following the trashing of his home a dead yearling calf is found in the lake, followed by a lake full of dead fish. The lake becomes the eye of the storm caused by scathing environmental attacks by the local TV reporter seeking higher ratings. He revives the old rumors of gold hidden on the farm. The attracts known and unknown persons who covet the gold rumored to be hidden on the farm or the lake. It is decided to drain the lake to stop the rumors and satisfy those who claim the lake is poisonous. Kate's long-absent father returns. He swears he helped Stuart bury gold ingots under the lake's headgate. Only the guidance of her grandfather's attorney and a very interested deputy, Sammy Irriondo, get her to the final reading of the will, but unknown enemies still lurk. The will is read and the mandated settlements are made. An old safety deposit key poses questions that must be answered before the estate's final settlement. One phone call changes peace to panic, but the phrase from the will giving Kate, "all my worldly possessions," changes her life forever. The Labor Day race gives her an idea on how to use her "Treasure Springs."
