Kaaka Sa U, Goon A Teen, and Shaawatgú are three sisters, each with their own special qualities, who live in the small Alaskan fishing village of Kake. One day when they decide to venture out and pick berries, their path home suddenly becomes hidden under dense fog. When the frightened sisters realize they are lost, they build a shelter for the night. The next day, after the sisters journey to the sea to find clams to eat, they meet a friendly whale who offers to guide them home. But when the way becomes rough, he gives them directions and bids them farewell. After spending another night in the wilderness where the princesses must huddle together for warmth and hide from the dangerous animals prowling nearby, they climb to the top of a mountain where they encounter an eagle.
