They Called Me Mouse is a heartwarming tale based upon a true story. It's about a Labrador puppy named Mouse who is born so tiny that he wasn't expected to live. But with a watchful eye and a caring doggy family, Mouse thrives. Born from champion bloodlines, Mouse struggles to fit in. Will he ever measure up? Will he ever make his Papa proud? Compare/Contrast: As Mouse shares his story, he talks in terms of how small he is compared to his much bigger, taller, and longer littermates. These words, and their synonyms, vary in font size to aid children in their understanding. Color Recognition: Mouse points out various items of color throughout this book, including black, brown, white, yellow, green, pink, orange, red, blue, and purple. These words are written in their respective colors. This helps younger children learn their colors or older children recognize color words faster. In addition, the counting paw prints are in different colors, so a parent can assist a younger child with color recognition.
