This is the tale of Judy Berry, a forty-something-year-old African-American poet, world-renowned and known as "the New Goddess of Love" by her fans. Underneath her picture-perfect life consisting of a radio talk show host husband Martial, her two children Zola and Rodney, and a home in an upscale New Jersey suburb, Judy secretly suffers from recurring nightmares stemming from the abortion she had as a teenager; the nightmares evoke Judy's old self that is bursting with repressed anger and trauma from what she did back then, taking a toll on her marriage and career as a famous poet.
