Synopsis "The War of Us"
The lives of three American women are interrupted when unarmed teenagers are murdered by a police officer in Atlanta's underbelly. On their quest to survive the ensuing chaos, Amara discovers that her prejudice against the lower class, which includes her sister, Monika, is deceptive. Financial resources cannot save her from the impending war. Valerie, a heavily decorated officer, is prepared to use her physical strength, street ambition, and investigative prowess to unmask the perpetrators and restore peace in her city. In time, the city's police structure collapses. Random gunfire cannot be controlled. Barricades cannot contain the fighting, and innocent bystanders are trapped within the violence for days. Wanderer's Refuge Temple, a megachurch on the city's edge, seems a haven for those who seek refuge from turmoil and death, but looks can be deceiving. The TAAR roster of Black sleeper cells would include thousands-if it had one. The African American Revolutionists had moved from table talks for justice and equality to equipped and ready for defense. Allegiance to the TAAR organization is a definite death wish. If these vigilantes had names, Monika and Jabari would be among them. Forced to sacrifice their youth, passions, and each other to fulfill TAAR's mission, they lack clarity for their cause-justice or revenge. The dreadful revelation of the lovebirds' betrayal concludes with immeasurable losses on all sides. The apocalyptic undertones signify a shift towards revolution and ignites the human spirit through its uncanny perspective on love, sacrifice, forgiveness, and the Black American experience.
