DescriptionThe Victims is the tale of four abused women who have tried everything to fill the void created by the rapes and abuses they've endured in the past from support groups to meds, percocets to merlots. After exhausting all remedies to heal the hurt, they come to realize that nothing will satisfy them but revenge . ExcerptFour women sat in the lobby of The Hilton hotel smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee mixed with a splash of Vodka. The coffee and Vodka were an odd combination most would think, unless you were one that danced on the line of insanity, but for these women it was like a walk in the park, going to Church or indulging in their favorite secret guilty pleasure. Most of all it was a stress reliever. A way to escape the everyday nightmares that haunted them day-in and day-out. To take flight on reality was impossible so the next best thing was to numb the pain. Once a week this group of women would convene at various locations to discuss the most ignominious actions one could go through. And after trying multiple outlets: family, the cops, the courts and the most important (many believed) which was silence - they somehow built enough courage, or maybe it was the results of being frazzled to the bone, to reach out to other women that had experienced that same formidable situation. And that would work for a while, the similar stories of abuse and how they overcame, the chanting, the holding of hands, the camaraderie, but to some it was just stupid to keep reliving these tragic events when revenge could so easily erase the bitterness of the memories. And as fate would have it, four women who attended the support groups regularly conspired to execute a vindictive plan they termed,"The Get Back!."
