Orlov's book discusses the tragic lives of these presidents. The first of them, William Henry Harrison, was elected in 1840, and the last, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, in 1960. Ronald Reagan, who was elected in 1980, was severely wounded. George W. Bush, elected in 2000, narrowly avoided the fate of his bi-decennial predecessors.
