Synopsis "The Resource Race: Our earthly natural resource journey (in English)"

A race to perpetuate this planet's irreplaceable natural resources is a race we human users and abusers cannot afford to lose. We are losing wilderness land, critically needed water supplies and creating a world with less breathable atmosphere each day. In The Resource Race, author David Swendsen, after almost thirty years of enforcing resource protection laws and regulations, and twenty-six years of teaching law enforcement courses at two Universities, Swendsen describes what he has encountered during his lifetime efforts to encourage we humans to change our ways of misusing our resources, and instead venture onto a new road that will lead we humans toward a future of Resource Environmental Sanity. In this book Swendsen takes readers along during his many enforcement adventures apprehending illegal duck, goose and big game hunters, over-bag fishermen, uncaring litterers, and resource violators who kill and trade in protected endangered species and endangered parts such as bald eagle feathers, elephant and walrus tusks and tiger skins. Some of these investigations and arrests proved out to be dangerous for Swendsen and for some of his fellow enforcement officers. Resource officers also must investigate and apprehend those persons and organizations who destroy wetlands, dredge wilderness lake bottoms and start forest fires. As Fish and Wildlife Service Agent, Swendsen moved into leadership positions across the nation he and his agents, teamed up with various State wildlife officers in making some significant resource arrests and convictions. In this book Swendsen includes quotes by environmental well known experts who have cautioned we humans in regard to how we are treating our resources. Swendsen also relates his one on one contacts and letters from world famous photographer Ansel Adams and numerous sessions with former National Wildlife Federation Director and Author Ernest Swift. In this book Swendsen suggests steps in changing our present destructive resource ways so that our children and their children will have the needed resources that will make their existences on this planet environmentally possible. Read on, the author feels with the use of his suggested changes in our resource behavior, and if we might start to listen carefully to these words from the mouth of a child, "How do rivers run?" "How do eagles fly?' " How do flowers bloom'?" and ''How do clouds get into the sky?" Then just maybe---- we can win The Resource Race
