Juan Ballesteros is a pawn in the Colombian drug war. During a failed assassination attempt, Juan is betrayed by his superior, Cortéz, and has to flee for his life. Trapped in La Mesa, and stricken with typhoid fever, he finds refuge in a farm belonging to Misión Colonbiana. There, he encounters a power greater than drugs or guns and is confronted with two worlds. One of greed and violence, and the other of faith and sacrifice. What will Juan choose? And what will his old superior, who is now a commander with the guerrillas, do when he finds Juan on a farm in the Caquetá, and returns to kill him and his family?
