Made from meteoritic iron and strongly magnetized, it is a gateway through time for those with the ability to use it. Born more than a century apart, Peter Matthews and Peggy Daingerfield possess this rare ability, and the bridge in time that forms between them through the arch results in an adventure that is both triumphant and tragic. Matthews must go back in time to save the Union general Ulysses S. Grant and preserve history, while Daingerfield must help Matthews so that her own crusade against slavery will not fail. But their efforts are not without cost.
