Ben was once the greatest of the great Medicine Men. Now a strange visitor from another universe is needing his special gifts, not only to help his people but to save the world from an invasion of monsters. Ben is told of a weapon that can stop the monsters, a weapon hidden in the ancient lands of the Anasazi, a weapon like the ones his ancestors used to slay the sons of the sun. But it will take more than a single weapon to stop the invasion, more than Chester's help, the dog who is much more than he seems to be. He must discover who and where these monsters are coming from. To do this, he must travel to the visitor's universe to find out the terrible secret of why the visitor opened the portal between Earth and the monsters, and why only Ben can close it. He has no choice but to go to the dark world of the monsters, try to avoid being captured and devoured, shut down the portal using only what he believes is the stone dagger that his ancestors once used to stop their mythical monsters, while redeeming himself for what the poison had done to him long ago.
