Synopsis "The Meco & more legends of O Grove (in English)"

"I tell briefly the History of O Grove, adding to the simplicity of the legends transmitted by oral tradition what the landscape, my imagination and fantasy suggest me. The characters come to life in a plausible scenario, in a refreshingly easy-to-read and enjoyable style." I wrote this book at the request of some inhabitants of O Grove, a touristic town located in the Galician coast (NW Spain), and to respond to the interest of tourists and visitors eager to know the legends and history of the O Grove Peninsula, until relatively recently an island. Our aim is to entertain and delight, but we believe that the knowledge of the historical avatars of the area will contribute to a better interpretation of the legends and to better know its people. In addition to informing, we intend to awaken the imagination of the reader by opening up new perspectives so that he can perceive other aspects of the environment besides the obvious physical ones, enjoy the landscape, participate in the experiences and better understand the people of this beautiful corner located in the Atlantic Coast. I provide brief, affordable and truthful information about the history of the area; regarding the legends, we take great liberties, adding to the simplicity of the story transmitted by oral tradition, what the environment, our experience, imagination and fantasy suggests. I collect pieces of popular legends, incarnate them in characters of fiction, and elaborate them with certain credibility within the ambiguity of the fable, thus giving body to what remains blurred in the fragile popular memory. I wish, dear reader, this book is to your liking and entertains your leisure time making you dream. I hope to have contributed with this publication to a better knowledge and enjoyment of the area, as well as of the ancient and mythical Galicia. albapaz.homestead.com
