Synopsis "The Long Way (in English)"
As November elections near, the incumbent DA is getting pressure from his opponent, Preston Shanks, regarding unsolved murders in this SE Oregon county. Police have no clues but suspect drugs are involved. Shanks is working to restart his political career and hopes to run for governor but the incumbent governor wants to stop him. The ensemble of characters include a coffee shop waitress, her ex-con ex-husband, a junior college football player, an eccentric minister with an eclectic congregation and a mysterious woman who may be involved with the federal government. Further complications ensue because no one knows who is stealing marijuana from growers, making everyone paranoid in the small community.
