Synopsis "The Inhumanity of Man: The Hattie McCloud Murder (in English)"

Hattie McCloud, a young widow, was returning home from her errands. As she climbed the steep hill, her thoughts were likely on her nine-year-old daughter. Suddenly, a hand grabbed her throat from behind and forced her into the woods. His grip was far too powerful for her to break away. Sadly, she never returned home to her daughter. A twenty-six-year-old man was arrested for the crime. He was tried by a jury of twelve of his peers. He was found guilty and was sentenced to death. After his execution, people began to question if he actually did commit the crime that cost him his life. This book examines the lives and deaths of two young people from Buckland, Massachusetts. One was brutally raped, murdered and robbed. The other may have been a victim in the pursuit of justice.
