A dream trip to Hawaii turns into a nightmare for Buzz, when his new friend Keemo is arrested for stealing a diamond ring. Now, they are both suspects! Buzz, Oz and Jimbo, dubbed "Grommets" by older surfers, begin their action packed summer travelling to The Big Island of Hawaii, with Buzz's family. After Keemo's arrest Buzz feels helpless and alienated from his family, Oz and Jimbo; until he befriends two girls, Alika and Keemo's tomboy cousin Leilani. Together they set out to solve the mystery and save the innocent boy. In the course, Buzz learns about friendship, Hawaiian culture and most importantly, Ohana.
