Professional sports teams like the Dodgers, Rams, and Lakers invaded the Golden State. Opportunity for school children was everywhere since the weather was great all year. Youth were taught responsibility and when they weren't, they suffered consequences for poor behavior. Television was served in black and white boxes the size of a washing machine. Chores included emptying their refrigerators in order to defrost them. The first skateboards were homemade out of roller skates. There wasn't color T.V., Computers, Cell Phones, and Video Games, etc. Young people spent much more time outdoors.
