This is an enjoyable themed collection of twelve short stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. With some stretch of the category, the stories, in general, are about pirates and other unpleasantries or mysteries on the high seas. The first four tales in the collection involve the fictional adventures, wicked actions and eventual end of the abominable Captain John Sharkey, dreadful master of the 20-gun pirate barque, Happy Delivery, and scourge of the Caribbean and North Atlantic in the early 18th century. All of the Captain Sharkey tales are well written pieces with compact plots and a sprinkling of surprises.
