His money is stolen, he falls in love with the wrong girl whose disapproving father hides her away in Philadelphia. Daniel follows to look for her, takes a job at City Tavern and accepts a beer delivery to Trenton, New Jersey in time to stumble into General Washington's camp on the eve of the American victory there. Thrust into the thick of the the battle preparations, he crosses the Delaware and undertakes a special assignment. His adventures have only just begun.
