What starts as an ordinary day at work for cab driver Larry Jones, turns into something altogether unexpected when he picks up an unusual fare in downtown San Francisco. For a start his passenger, Derek Smith, is being pursued by the authorities and is desperate to evade them. But there's more to it than that. He hands Larry a $100 bill in payment, but when the unsuspecting cab driver examines it more closely he sees that the date on the note is four years in the future and his passenger is a time traveller. Hunted by the FBI, Homeland Security, a secret organisation of multi billionaires, a host of other law enforcement agencies and even the military, the two men are forced to escape from the city and make their way to Derek's home in Sacramento, where they are helped by his neighbour, Linda. And when Derek reveals the truth about just what he is, and the unique abilities he has, Larry finds himself resolved to helping him in any way he can. Even when it means being pursued across the country and placing himself and Linda in danger at the same time.
