Taps; The Rhythm of The Heart is Rev. Dr. Kevin T. Coughlin Ph.D.'s sixth book of poetry. This poetry is an emotional, honest, and raw look at life. The poetry reflects the struggles and hope of day to day life and the journey of the mind and spirit. The author talks about many topics that could impact anyone's life. You will feel the author's anger, love, struggles, hope and so much more through his prolific poetry. Although, there are several poems involving "man's best friend," the book is about the memories we create, the emotions we feel, and the unbearable things and situations that we overcome during our time on this earth. The author wants to honor life and the beauty and struggles during a lifetime.This sixth book of poetry by this award-winning poet is dedicated to his older brother who has been diagnosed with malignant pancreatic cancer. The poet's brother is only three years his senior. They come from a strong family foundation of faith, which is important at this time in the family's lives.The Author has been writing poetry for over twenty years. His first published poem was titled, "First" and was published by The Aurorean Encircle Publications, editor Cynthia Brackett-Vincent. He was then published by many small press publications, winning several poetry awards over the years. His first book of poetry was published by Feather Books in England, titled, "Tumbleweeds." Kevin then went on to publish four more books of poetry and an Anthology of his poetry. Kevin writes nonfiction, fiction, educational books, journals; however, poetry is his true love!
