In "The Witch's Beloved" a disfigured orphan finds strength and hope in the arms of her beloved, yet mysterious, Fairy Godmother, a self-admitted witch who uses her powers to aid the young orphan. However, is the Fairy Godmother only working her magic for the orphan girl's good, or are there darker motives at play? In "Pale" a biochemistry graduate student lands the career opportunity of a life-time as she is offered a lucrative position at Bogenics biological research firm by the reclusive Dr. Krank. However, her first task may soon prove to be her last as she is ordered to begin construction of a threatening pathogen with world-wide implications.
