Synopsis "Stress in lady doctors of Peshawar Pakistan (in English)"
Stress is a ubiquitous condition that affects all people. According to a definition given by H. Selye, stress is defined as an acute threat to the homeostasis of an organism. It may be real (physical) or perceived (psychological) and posed by events in the outside world or from within. The 21st century is an era of stress. Because stress is a perceived concept, emotional intelligence plays a role in the mental process of determining the source of stress. Job stress is subjective cognition. For example, different people working in same task environment may perceive different levels of job stress. The hospital doctors in the workplace suffer from too many stressors. The American Institute of Stress reports that between 75% to 90% of visits to doctors are related to stress. The US looses as many as 400 physicians to suicide per year. The suicide rate for female physicians is 2.5 to 4 times higher than that of general population. Residency and training programs can be extremely challenging. In Pakistan employees experience stressed because of work load, technological problems at work, long working hours and inadequate salary.
