In Stop Dribbling Footballs, Joe is thrust into a new environment without guidance or an ability to meet the expectations of authority figures. Initially, Joe is unable to succeed because he applies a rule set of social norms to the new environment, which leaves him noncompliant. Joe is doing the only thing he knows how to do and is confused that his behavior elicits harsh reactions from those around him. It is not until a coach sits Joe down and explains the rules that Joe begins to develop tools to be successful. He has served as the Superintendent of Schools for Columbus Municipal School District in Columbus, Mississippi since July 2014. He has previously served as the Assistant Superintendent of Academic Support Services at the Houston Independent School District and Assistant Superintendent of Education at the Promise Academy in Kansas City, Missouri.
