Synopsis "Stenia's Life Memories (in English)"

This is a story of despair and hope; of devastation and triumph of hatred and love. It's the story of a 15 year old Zionist Jewish girl named Stenia Hollander whose world started falling apart when the Germans invaded her hometown of Krakow, Poland. One blow followed another as she went through the imprisonment of her father, the death of her mother, and ultimately her deportation to the concentration camp. Soon after the war started, her father asked her to take care of her sister who was four years her junior. Stenia protected her sister along with a small band of cousins. She managed to keep all of them together and alive through the hardship of Auschwitz. Once the war was over, she immigrated with all of them to Eretz Israel - the land of Israel. There, with an unbroken spirit she worked to make all her dreams come true. She got married to a handsome young officer in the IDF and now her name was Esther Mannheim. She lived the Zionist dream of rebuilding the nation and the human spirit. She basked in the lover of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren - this was her true victory. Once her husband of 39 years passed away she devoted herself to the role of a witness. She joined numerous delegations on their pilgrimage to Poland, and testified about her experience in the Ghetto and in the camps. Her triumph over Hitler is expressed in building a loving home in the Jewish state, in sharing her story with young Israeli high-schoolers on European soil and in engaging in dialogue with devout German and Austrian Christians.
