Am Beispiel der „Nicht-finiten Prädikationskonstruktion" („Ich und aufgeben?") wird der Versuch unternommen, ausgehend vom alltagssprachlichen Gebrauch einer grammatischen Konstruktion zu einem Modell ihrer Repräsentation im Sprachgebrauchswissen zu gelangen. Einige Charakteristika der „Nicht-finiten Prädikationskonstruktion" werden dabei auch sprachvergleichend und im Hinblick auf den Problembereich Mündlichkeit und Schriftlichkeit diskutiert. Im Ergebnis wird dafür plädiert, Konstruktionen als Phänomene alltäglicher kommunikativer Praxis zu begreifen.
