Synopsis "Solid Ground (in English)"
Although Jimmy Lee Starnes is a changed man, justice has finally been served and he's now in a medium-security prison facility in south Texas. Prison is as hard as he imagined it would be, and he's struggling to hang onto promises he's found in scripture. If the kind folks of Logan Creek continue to support him with regular visits, perhaps he can endure. In the meantime, Meg Patterson's new coffee shop, Wholly Ground, is doing well and her wedding with Brad Sampson is on the horizon. She and Brad have become a frequent foursome with her best friend, Pam Starnes, and Conner County Sheriff Sonny Thomas. New friendships have the sheriff wondering whether faith in God could actually be life changing. Between their positive influences and that of his trusted deputy, Dewey West, Sonny is developing a long list of questions about faith, God, and the possibility of an afterlife. If Heaven and Hell exist, he knows he's on shaky ground as far as where he'd spend eternity. While still debating answers to many of his questions, two of Logan Creek's most popular residents go missing, and Sonny must face off with outsiders who've proven themselves capable of multiple crimes, including kidnapping and murder. What happens next could mean Sonny will discover firsthand the answers he's been seeking.
