Synopsis "Side Road To Nevada (in English)"
Leaning against the tire of a broken-down Jeep stolen from a former girlfriend, Trevor is at the low point of the arc of a wasted life. He has no idea how he will get to his next destination until bizarrely, in the middle of nowhere, a hitchhiker arrives, carrying a guitar. Within a few minutes Sammy has the old car running and the two are rolling east. Sammy's claims of a brilliant academic launching pad complete with mind boggling, world changing, scientific discoveries is a stark contrast to Trevor's background from the wrong side of the tracks. Sammy is desperate to get away from both the moral weight of the decision to release those discoveries and from the potential for evil uses by a government he claims is hunting him down. Trevor is desperate to get away from himself. For the sake of convenience, Trevor's fluid morals allow him to keep his disbelief in Sammy's story at arm's length and Sammy sees deeply hidden, potentially redeemable qualities in Trevor. Their bond lasts despite Sammy's secrecy, enigmatic claims of amazing scientific breakthroughs, and frequent disappearances. Along with a solid group of new friends, the two stumble through the landscape of morality, truth, and ethics, but the question of the value of personal relationships over material goods becomes severely strained when the business they start together shows the promise of real success. The stakes become incredibly high and the tension builds as Trevor is forced to choose between his own drives, his friendships, and possibly, the future of the world.
