Jessica Wray grew up in the small town of Mount Airy, North Carolina. She spent her childhood waiting for the escape from that small town. When she met Mason her life changed. He quickly implanted himself into her life, changing it forever. The first time he hit her, Jessica knew it was her fault. She didn't follow his rules and she paid for it. But Mason took his abuse too far, Jessica left him and ran. She ran for years, pouring herself into her work. Opening The Treehouse, a chain of children's clothing stores Jessica became a success. A self proclaimed workaholic she never moved on from Mason. When Jessica's father had a heart attack she found herself questioning the rules she had lived by for so many years. Jessica made a change in her life, moving back to her small town and meeting Josh. Josh is the contractor responsible for the remodel of her new manufacturing plant. He's everything Mason wasn't. He is patient, kind, and doesn't make her follow a list of rules. He teaches her that love shouldn't hurt. She fights his love, terrified of letting anyone close to her again. She knows to love him would break the number one rule. She belongs to Mason. She tries to push Josh away, but their love is to strong to be denied. Together they must face the shadows of her past and fight for chance of a future together.
