After seventeen years in office, Sheriff Hilton Parks has been ousted from the office of Sheriff of Apache County. Andee Taylor takes that win very seriously and runs the office of sheriff with integrity the former sheriff seemed to lack. She's been the sheriff for a little over a year when she finds her little town being threatened by a raging wildfire. If just ensuring the safety of the town and its residents isn't enough, two young boys have gone missing in the path of the fire and her deputy, who is first on the search, isn't telling them everything. On top of that a private investigator from the Phoenix area arrives with information about women who have been kidnapped and believed to be in the area. Andee still has bad feelings about the private investigator that dug into her past during the election, looking for anything that could cast a shadow on her character. Can she trust this tall, handsome, cowboy of an investigator or is he just like the other P.I.? Throw in a dead body, an irate husband, a rattlesnake, and a vivacious young woman, and Sheriff Andee Taylor has her work cut out for her.
