Synopsis "second thoughts: confessions of a suburban divorcee (in English)"

In DOUBLE DOUBLE-CROSS, not only does an incident from Sandie's past give her "second thoughts" when it returns to haunt her, but so does the married "man of the cloth" with whom she's fallen in love when he betrays both his wife and lover. Based on real events, the truth in this story lies somewhere between these blurred lines. Deceived by her lover and abandoned by her husband, Sandie is alone and single except for her good friend, Val. Together, as DISCO BABIES, seeking "love in all the wrong places," they strive to fill the painful void of their failed marriages only to become further disappointed and disillusioned. Sandie's "second thoughts" about abortion, leaving her children, and divorcing her husband collide when she is raped by one of her one-night stands, infected with gonorrhea, and then pregnant with a possibly diseased as well as unwanted child. In MENAGE A TROIS, open marriage is the snare that entraps three friends in a web they weave around themselves, their mates, and several of their acquaintances. Just married to a Methodist pastor, on her honeymoon, of all places, Sandie realizes she has married the wrong man. In one of her more noble "second thoughts" moments, she foregoes this temptation only to get involved in the controversial lifestyle her husband embraces. Battered friendships, bruised egos, and wounded psyches lead to Divorce No. 2 and Sandie moves to Denver to begin again. HOME BASE is riddled with "second thoughts" as Sandie struggles to reconcile her twin nature--the practical and the romantic. Equating love with dependence, Sandie fluctuates between returning to and leaving her HOME BASE, the only security she knows. Ironically, it is this relationship that enables Sandie to achieve both the independence and self-love she seeks. In VISIONS, the man Sandie loves is called by his spirit guide to visit Aimee Semple McPherson's tabernacle in Los Angles. Together, they meet an evangelical duo, reminiscent of Tammy and Jim Baker, who accuse them of being Devil worshippers and send them packing back to Denver. Here, Sandie has VISIONS of her own. A nasty encounter in a nightclub and a disturbing incident with other-worldly entities in her own living room, opens Sandie's eyes and gives her "second thoughts" about her lover's sanity. Frightened, she sends an S.O.S. to an old flame in California who once again comes to her rescue.
