Collection of poems that journey through a troubled mind of tragedy, pain, love and loss in a manner that one would assume would be experienced as a trance-like phase of psychosisABOUT THE AUTHORYolanda Lindsay Mabuto (13F:1988), daughter of Bright and Catherine was born and raised in Gweru (Zimbabwe). She attended junior school at Midlands Christian School where she began writing poetry in grade 3 (age 8). She participated in the Girl’s College Literary competitions attaining First grade Prose as well as taking part in The national institute of allied arts attaining First Grade Poetry Second Grade Prose and Third Grade Vocal Solo Edelweiss. She then attended high school at Arundel School. At 16 she joined Young Writers and her first poem titled “A love story” was published (2005). Her second poem titled “I have a dream” was published in 2006 in an anthology titled “from Around the World Volume 11.” This poem was selected in June 2008 for a runner up prize in the “I have a dream” edition competition in which she featured. Yolanda continued to write and has currently been published in 12 anthologies by Forward Press (Peterborough), and has been featured in numerous literary magazines all over the world. Her writing is inspired by the life of others as well as her own and it reflects the artistic craft of life’s pain and joy. In 2012 she had the honour of writing the synopsis of Taffrok Entertainment’s first short film “Dystopia Paruzevha’’. In 2014 she was awarded a certificate for being amongst the top 10 entrepreneurs for JCI Zimbabwe creative young entrepreneur award. Her first poetry collection titled Ante Meridiem (Latin for Before Noon) was published December 2015 and between 2016-2017 she self-published four other collections, titled: Ode to love, Once upon a love story, Till Dawn and Victim-ed. Her collection titled Trios contains three collections, Ante meridiem, Ode to love and Till dawn. In 2018, she published two poetry collections titled Mansuetude and EmO. Yolanda is also interested in short stories as well as children stories and published her first children’s story titled The Velvet unicorn in 2018. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical science from Roosevelt Academy (Netherlands) and a Master’s degree in Biomedical Science from Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (Germany).
