The author is a single mother of two and has over 20 years of experience working with inner city youth. Until the age of 10, she was raised in a single parent home as well. She knows the struggle of finding her place in society, being teased, dealing with suicidal thoughts, and dealing with feelings of abandonment. As a Christian, she understands the importance of having a strong foundation. Life is extremely difficult but it can be bearable with a strong support system and strong faith in God. If you are a mother, daughter, aunt, grandmother, mentor, teacher, etc. and you interact with adolescent girls, I encourage you to read this book. Open the door for discussion; you will be surprised at what the young lady in your life is struggling with. She may just be waiting for you to create the right environment to share.
