The start of the 21st Century has been a troubled one, both in terms of peace and prosperity. Many are understandably discouraged by the challenges we, as a global community, face. This book presents a number of issues facing modern society, particularly within the United States, with a view to stimulating thought and debate about critical items which will determine whether peace and prosperity is achievable for this generation and generations to come. It is said that Alexander the Great, when confronted with the Gordian knot, took his sword and cut the knot thereby fulfilling the prophecy. While our knotty issues are not so easily disposed of it is hoped that this short exploration of some of these issues will serve to focus attention and thought on possible causes and solutions.
