One Strikes Three is a collection of three stories. In Symbols on the House we find that many people are struck by the need to paint large symbols on their dwellings. They were instructed to do so in their dreams by someone or something from "up there". In the story Skin, an old man dies but a young man emerges in his place. Brand new to this world, the young man must find his way before he is discovered by a retired policeman who is convinced that he was the cause of death of his long time friend. In Heart of Glass, a male college student is recognized by a girl who had known him when he was younger. She remembered the tragedy of his mother's murder when he was still a little boy and strikes up a relationship with him. They work to piece together his memories of the past to discover what happened to his mother. That discovery brings them face to face with mortal danger.
