Diana Jeffries, well known criminology professor, along with three of her commuting cohorts, stumble onto a sinister plot involving their commuter train when they inadvertently view a text message from a seemingly shady passenger. This ignites the gang's curiosity and through their amateurish stumblings and outlandish schemes, they find themselves entangled in a real threat including murder. When an attempt to share their fears with their train conductor, Tom fails, Diana turns to her friend Lieutenant Venedri of the New York City Police Department. The gang is dismissed as a group of aging snoops which leaves them to their own ludicrous devices.
