Synopsis "On a Razor Edge: Lebanon: 1998 - 2006 (in English)"
Demonstrations erupted on March 14, 2005. Hundreds of thousands were seen flooding the happy and densely crowded Place des Martyrs as they felt the need of a badge-of-honor. The overwhelming motto upon their placards was "We Want the Truth."Occasions calling for the 'liberation of Lebanon from all occupations' were rare until recently. Opponents of 'foreign' troops and the killing of Rafik Hariri took the Flag of Lebanon as a symbol of their unity. They ranged under their banners multitudes of opinions but united on the attainment of one great object: To protect the nation from disrespect or desecration. The demonstrators figured the emblem of the Cedar in danger and declared they wanted to save it. On a Razor Edge attempts to give an analysis of the diplomatic repercussions among the Powers and key players, in which their attitude toward Lebanon, and using her as 'free' arena of world-proxies, has ended in utter paralysis of the UN.To read On a Razor Edge, with profit, demands a knowledge of the last forty-years' succession of events in this country. Still, the book is not the final story or history of a nation's birth pains and regeneration.
