Die ethnobotanische Untersuchung an den drei Standorten ergab, dassAloe macroclada traditionell zur Behandlung von Verdauungsbeschwerden, bestimmten Stoffwechselerkrankungen, Wunden, Gonorrhö und Asthma verwendet wird. Auch auf ihre Verwendung in der Kosmetik und als Bodenschutzmittel wurde hingewiesen. Die mit der Zielart assoziierte Flora besteht aus 44 Arten, die 37 Gattungen und 20 Familien angehören. Die am stärksten vertretenen Familien sind: Poaceae, Asteraceae und Fabaceae. In einem artenarmen Gebiet mit offener Vegetation wie Anjeva ist die Dichte relativ hoch, die Biomasse jedoch gering. Wenn die Vegetation reich und vielfältiger ist, wie in Miandrarivo beobachtet, ist die Dichte gering und die Biomasse hoch. Ein ausgewachsenes Individuum produziert durchschnittlich 19 bis 40 Blätter pro Pflanze, die zwischen 40,00 und 64,00 cm lang und 10,00 bis 12,50 cm breit sind. Anthropogene Belastungen wie Buschfeuer, die Ausweitung von Anbauflächen und das illegale Sammeln stellen eine entscheidende Bedrohung für Aloe macroclada dar. Es müssen geeignete Ma nahmen ergriffen werden, um diese schädlichen menschlichen Aktivitäten einzudämmen.
