This short two character play, that can be performed by any Masonic group for the public, is a unique addition to the world of Masonic theater. 'Not My Legacy' is a debate on making a legacy in light of famous Freemasons, ranging from George Washington to Brad Paisley.This is the first Masonic themed play by a Maine Mason to be translated into Yiddish, bringing Freemasonry more in touch with Jewish culture beyond just history. This is also one of the few Masonic plays that takes place present day with no historical context or characters or events, discusses contemporary issues of lodge life, and can be performed for the public by any Masonic group. A slightly different English translation is also available.Playwright Aaron Joy has been involved in Masonry in his home of Maine, via Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite, Royal Arch and Lodge of Research, while his theater work has included work on and off stage in the U.S. and Japan, including directing Off-Broadway.
