Synopsis "No One Comes Close: A memoir (in English)"

In 1966 Julie meets Ron at a jazz club in South London. She falls in love with him but she's not sure of his feelings for her. They have a brief relationship and lose touch after a misunderstanding. But she never forgets him.Fast forward to 1986. Julie is unhappily married and dreams of finding Ron again. She sends him a 40th birthday card via his parents' address that she has remembered, and hopes it will reach him. Weeks pass. New Years' Eve comes and goes. She gives up all hope until the phone rings one evening in January. It's Ron! He's living in Sydney, Australia. Julie is overjoyed to hear he is coming to England in April to visit his parents and is going to look her up. They meet in Trafalgar Square on 1st April. After three clandestine meetings Ron declares his love for her and wants to come back to England for good. For her. She can't believe it. Things like this only happen in books! He flies back to Sydney to put his affairs in order which he says will take one month. While he's away, Julie blurts out everything to her husband who is devastated. She's thrown into a quandary. Her husband tells her to let her fifteen year old daughter know what she intends to do. The battle with her conscience is almost more than she can bear. Can she leave her husband and daughter for a man she hardly knows? Is this a dream too far?
