Synopsis "Nipster's Magical Cane (in English)"

When a human sized girl named Wendy comes too close to the Ishigaq underground colony, when hunting with her parents, Her Allness Nipster shrinks her with her magical cane so that she will not cause the Ishigaq to be crushed. Wendy is a member of the feared Big People, but in spite of this, Her Allness Nipster decides to take her with Ulu on her vision quest onto the land. While on the land, Her Allness Nipster teaches the girls about the land and winter navigation as they travel. Unfortunately, Her Allness Nipster loses her magical cane well into the trip and without it has no ability to return Wendy to her former size so that she can reunite with her parents. Then Her Allness Nipster falls deathly ill and the two girls must use everything they have just been taught to try to navigate home as quickly as possible with their lemming sled team so that medical help can be sought. Will they be too late, and will Her Allness Nipster survive? What will happen when the Big People and the Ishigaq meet. Will Wendy be able to reunite with the Big People? What will happen if Her Allness Nipster succumbs to her illness?Ishigaq are people 30 centimetres tall of Alaskan lore. They live in the arctic in an underground colony. These books are set in the arctic and promote positive values and will stimulate thought about contemporary issues like global warming, conflict versus cooperation and the value of traditional knowledge, self-determination and leadership.
