Synopsis "Myrtle, Mississippi: The Way We WERE In The 50s and the 60s: Tour Myrtle's "Happy Places" during the 50s and 60s (in English)"

From two roughly constructed maps: one noting all the families that occupied the 130 to 140 households, and the other showing the businesses during the 50s and 60s, many heartwarming and hilarious stories are shared in this work. As a young lad and the caretaker of so many lawns, the author had a front row seat to the drama and lives played out in these neat middle class family homes as well as the many grand Victorian houses. The writer intends to take you on a nostalgic journey from the stories he had heard about the enticing allure and gaiety of the dance hall atmosphere of Springdale Lake Honky Tonk and crossing chasms to actually growing up hearing the hellfire and brimstone preaching of the nationally know preacher and evangelist, Reverend Percy Ray. Nolan describes the devotion and work that went into the miraculous development of Camp Zion whose stated mission was "To Bring America back to God". He relates the antics of some of the workers that add a comical aspect to the many tasks that had to be done and coping with the straight-laced demands of this lifestyle. The book gives a delightful insight to life lived in an idealistic small town with many "Happy Places".
