Synopsis "Murder on the Mesa (in English)"
Murder on the Mesa is the third in a trilogy of murder mysteries that take places in an out-of-the-way place in Oklahoma - Black Mesa. This geological formation, located in the farthest corner of the panhandle, is the highest point of the Sooner State. Kevin Killingsly needs a bone marrow transplant to save his life. The only possible match is his older brother, Kyle. There is only one problem, Kyle, a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, was distrachraged from the army because of PTSD and a severe head injury. He has taken to the road and no one knows where he is. Their sister, Kailee, travels to Centennial State to begin a search. She tracks him from Pueblo east through the myriad of small towns of eastern Colorado. There have been a handful sightings of Kyle so she continues the search. When she reaches Lamar, Colorado, she turns south into the Oklahoma panhandle where the trail goes cold. Kailee calls her college roommate, Nikki Nokowski. Along with Buzz Phipps, Bobby Blaster and Liz Moody, members of Task Force Oklahoma, agree to help search for Kyle. The best lead lays in the small village of Puritan. Kyle had been sighted in this strange, cult-like community. Strict rules, based on their own interpretation of the Bible, make life difficult for the residents and more difficult for outsiders. During their investigation, the task force finds seven missing persons cases that all have chararteristics similar to Kyle's disappearance. All are male. All disappeared in rural areas within a fifty-mile radius of Black Mesa. Only one was witnessed. Most believe the missing persons are dead. Could Kyle be number eight? Or will the Task Force find him safe and sound? See how a sister's love for two brothers pushes her to search for days to find hope. With both ups and downs, she refuses to stop.
