When you have a career in Law Enforcement, there are a few things that you expect to happen. You expect the excitement, sweat and tears, Adrenalin rush, danger, politics, and much more. What you don't expect is your own department to sabotage, to destroy your career, and your family's future. We as law enforcement officials have the opportunity to testify in court and with our testimony can put someone in jail or prison for a long period of time. The duty and responsibility of truthful testimony is immense in our business because we hold someone's life and freedom in our hands. With all of the negativity police officers receive from the public, for example, Rodney King, Treyvon Martin, the riots in Ferguson, Missouri, and also the assassinations of our beloved Police Officers around the country, trust from the public and transparency on what actually happens in each and every case is vital. When the trust is destroyed, it is hard to build it back up. In this current story, you will see how lies and corruption, even in this County of Genesee, Michigan, can ruin someone's life and alter their family's future forever. People need to tell the truth, good, bad, or indifferent. I have learned a valuable lesson in this case, "If you are going to lie, you have to REMEMBER your lies," and everybody else's also!
